  8.        1.  _I_n_t_r_o_d_u_c_t_i_o_n

  11.        The License Tools (_l_i_c_e_n_s_e__e_o_e) product contains tools which
  12.        support the installation and management of software
  13.        licenses.  It includes _L_i_c_e_n_s_e _M_a_n_a_g_e_r, which is a graphical
  14.        tool used for installing and managing software licenses.
  15.        This product should be installed on systems running licensed
  16.        applications.

  18.        There are two software licensing systems: FLEXlm and NetLS
  19.        (Network License System).  Both the FLEXlm and NetLS systems
  20.        support node-locked licenses (licenses which are specific to
  21.        one machine) and network (floating or concurrent) licenses.

  23.        A program which has been software-licensed requests a
  24.        license when invoked; if none is available, the program does
  25.        not execute.  A software license is represented as a coded
  26.        text string which can be installed to enable a licensed
  27.        application to run on a target host.
